Teeing Off in Thailand: COUNTRY Financial® Rep Hannah Doran Shines at BMW Golf Cup World Finals in Bangkok

When rep Hannah Doran, Denver North District, took her first swings on the golf course as a young girl alongside her mom, dad and sister, she never imagined the game would one day take her halfway across the globe. But this spring, that’s exactly what happened when she teed off at the BMW Golf Cup World Finals in Bangkok, Thailand—representing the United States in the largest amateur golf tournament in the world.

The BMW Ladies Championship brought together elite amateur players from 34 countries. For Doran, the road to Bangkok began much closer to home, rooted in years of dedication to the sport. A competitive golfer throughout high school and college, she has continued to nurture her passion through the Ptarmigan Ladies Golf Association, where she now serves as secretary/treasurer at Ptarmigan Country Club in Colorado.

That commitment paid off in a big way when Doran earned a spot at the BMW U.S. Golf Cup at Castle Pines Golf Club—an event held just days before PGA Tour pros arrived to compete in the BMW Championship. Her victory there secured her ticket to Thailand, where a once-in-a-lifetime experience awaited.

“We left February 28 and returned March 14,” said Doran. “The first week was all golf—one practice round followed by three intense tournament rounds. After that, we had the chance to explore and enjoy Thailand. It was the perfect blend of competition and adventure.”

The tournament took place at Alpine Golf Club in Bangkok, a course known for its pristine fairways and challenging layout. Competitors played using the Stableford scoring system, which rewards aggressive play and helps mitigate the impact of a tough hole. While the U.S. team finished 26th out of 32, and Doran placed 22nd in her bracket of 34, she didn’t measure the experience by scores alone.

“I walked away incredibly proud—not just of my performance, but of the friendships and memories I made,” she said. “The BMW Golf Cup World Finals was more than just a competition—it was a reminder of how powerful sports can be in bringing people together. I left with new perspectives and a greater appreciation for how small the world can feel when you share a common passion.”

What made the experience even more meaningful was the sense of camaraderie she felt with fellow golfers from around the world.

“Even though we came from different cultures and backgrounds, once we stepped onto the course, we spoke the same language,” she said.

Doran also reflected on the personal growth that came with the international spotlight.

“This experience reinforced the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and stepping outside my comfort zone. Whether it was handling the pressure of international competition, staying focused despite the challenges, or even just embracing unexpected media moments, I learned and grew in ways I never expected.”

As a rep, Doran credits the company’s strong emphasis on work-life balance and professional flexibility for making such a trip possible.

“COUNTRY gives me the freedom to pursue my goals—on and off the golf course—while still giving my clients the attention they deserve,” she said. “Golf has become a natural extension of how I build relationships and connect with people in the community. Whether it's playing in charity scrambles or having conversations on the course, I’ve found that the trust and rapport built on fairways often carry over into the work I do helping people protect what matters most.”

“COUNTRY also fosters a strong work-life balance, which makes it possible to chase big opportunities—like playing in an international tournament—without compromising the care I provide my clients. I’m proud to represent a company that supports both personal growth and professional success.”

Now back in Colorado, Doran looks ahead with gratitude and excitement.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the support from my colleagues, friends, family, and mentors throughout this journey. Their encouragement made this experience even more meaningful,” she said. “I hope my story serves as a reminder that with dedication and hard work, amazing opportunities can come our way. Playing in the BMW Golf Cup was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I can’t wait to see what’s next—both on and off the course.”
